There is a reason so many of us love to watch period dramas (and why I’ve seen I don’t know how many different versions of Pride and Prejudice—I know that Lizzy will get together with Mr. Darcy in the end!). But one of the main reasons I, like so many others, can’t pass up a good historical movie is the costumes!
For many of us, Lolita is a way to bring those lush period drama costumes and elegant excesses into our own wardrobes, and even into our lives. Lolita is a way of being: to live as young women in the 21st century, but with the beauty of days gone by.
