This past August, Shojo
Beat was lucky enough to attend two special concerts given by Nana Kitade at Otakon in Baltimore, MD.
Before her performances, Nana participated in a panel at the convention center and answered some
questions—she talked about her love for Green Day and mentioned how much she would love to sing
a duet with Billie Joe. She also talked a little about her next album, for which she will not only be
writing the music, but doing the production!
Nana also discussed her passion for fashion—she has worked on a special line of clothes with
designers Emily Temple Cute, and she would love to have her own fashion line and store, similar in style to
Baby, The Stars Shine Bright.
Her main preoccupation, however, seemed to be the idea of being a princess and living in a castle. She
offered to invite everyone to a concert and tea party at her castle in her "Nana Kingdom," and went on to
describe her ideal castle, complete with huge rose gardens and stained glass windows, chandeliers everywhere
and a special room for tea parties. And of course, it would also have huge closets for all of her clothes!
When asked about her ideal boyfriend, Nana said the answer was simple—a prince on a white horse, to go
with the castle!
When it came time for her performances, Nana drove the crowd wildÑthey were dancing and waving their
hands when she performed "Indelible Sin (Kesenai Tsumi from the anime Fullmetal Alchemist. It
was delightful to see everyone react to her with such adoration. One of the highlights of the show was her
performance of "Kibou no Kakera," (A Fragment of Hope or a Splinter of Hope) the theme song from
Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z! While she sang, the redesigned Powerpuffs (read more about the new PPGZ
in the December 2006 issue of SB!) were displayed on video monitors, and the entire audience erupted into
cheers and excited chatter about the new Powerpuff anime, and about Nana's great new song, which is being
released as a single in Japan this month.

By the end of each show, Nana had unquestionably endeared herself to the audience, expanding her
invitation for all to come live in a castle with her in Japan. At one point, when she got her hair caught in
her guitar strings, some members of the audience tried to climb onstage and help her get untangled. It seems
that everyone wants to be close to Princess Nana!
