Since her debut on the Japanese pop music scene in the 1980s, Ayumi Hamasaki has become one of the nation's biggest stars, a trendsetter not only in music but also fashion. Her undeniable star power has led to appearances in advertisements, video games, anime, films and more. With the release of her 2008 single "Mirrorcle World," she became the only Japanese female artist to have a number one single every year for ten years running.
