Mika Nakashima Brings Nana Osaki to Life |

In the live-action film version of Nana, Mika Nakashima plays Nana Osaki,
a tough, young, and talented singer with high hopes of making a living from her music career.
As it turns out, Nakashima not only came to like her manga counterpart, but also shared a similar ambition early in her career.
Intent on becoming a singer from an early age, Nakashima quit high school (sound familiar?) and started distributing her own demo tapes.
And while dropping out of school may not seem like the most ambitious path in life, in Nakashima's case it paid off. In 2001, she was selected
from a pool of 3,000 candidates to star in the television drama Kizudarake no Love Song (Scarred Love Song), a story about a delinquent girl's
journey to stardom after a music producer discovers her. Much like the character she played, Nakashima had no prior recording
or acting experience. Nakashima's recording of the opening theme song, "Stars," became her first major single release. |
