If you're a fan of Bisco Hatori's gender-bending manga Ouran High School Host Club, then you'll be thrilled to know that the English-language anime is headed your way. On October 28, Funimation Entertainment is releasing part 1 of the Ouran High School Host Club anime series, a 2-DVD set of the first 13 episodes. The remaining 13 episodes will be released in early 2009.
The wacky shojo comedy stars a girl named Haruhi who attends a swanky private school on scholarship and dresses on the cheap in pants, moppy hair, and glasses. She looks like a boy and, at a critical moment where she breaks an outrageously expensive vase, is mistaken for one. Unfortunately for her, the vase belongs to the school's unofficial host club, where the female population goes to be fawned over by a group of extremely gorgeous (but odd) boys. The host club turns Haruhi into its servant to pay off her debt, and that's when the adventures begin.
