You'll need one ball each Knit Picks Merino style in
23463 Moss
23457 Pine
23451 Asparagus
23453 Crocus
23447 Strawberry
(or use dk weight red from your stashyou only need a few yards)
In addition to US 4 dpns, you'll need a set of US 2 dpns for the antenna.
You'll have enough leftover yarn to make a pair of matching socks!
A pattern like the Sock Wars
International Socks of Doom
will be perfectsub K2P2 rib if you're feeling lazy. Working both socks
at once will allow you to best match the stripes.
Ear Muffs
Work as for Queen (see Shojo Beat December 2006 Issue, pg. 14, or click here),
except substitute the following color variations for those given:
CO with Moss and work as directed.
Rnd 14: Switch to Pine.
Rnd 22: Switch to Asparagus (this will be your last increase rnd).
K 9 rnds.
Switch to Pine. K12 rnds.
Switch to Crocus, and proceed as per pattern.
For the interior, either continue in crocus or
switch to another color (or stripes, if you like).
Straps
Work as for Queen
Band
Work as for Queen, except use Pine.
When you're done, count your total rows and work a 3 st
I-cord in crocus with the same number of rows. Seam along
front edge of band with mattress stitch.
Antenna
With Crocus and US 2 Needles, CO 16. Divide between 3 needles
and join, being careful not to twist st.
K 14 rnds.
*K2, k2tog, repeat from * to end of rnd12 st.
Redistribute needles so you have 4 st on each needle.
K 5 rnds.
*K2, k2tog, repeat from * to end of rnd9 st.
K 4 rnds.
Switch to Strawberry yarn.
*K into f & b of each st, repeat from * to end of rnd18 st.
K rnd.
*K1, K into f & b of st, repeat from * to end27 st.
K 6 rnds.
*K1, k2tog, repeat from * to end of rnd-18 st.
K rnd.
*K2tog, repeat from * to end of rnd9 st.
K rnd, then thread end through live stitches and draw tight.
Tack down a few times and weave in ends. Sew to center middle of
band with Crocus yarn.
