In Japan, setsubun can refer to the first day before the changing of each season, but more commonly refers to February 6, a celebration of the beginning of springa time to purge the year of any misfortune and evil spirits, and to welcome good fortune, health and prosperity in the new. The setsubun celebration involves food, ritual and sometimes a little bit of magic!
