Official Rules
NO PURCHASE
NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.
1. How to
Enter. You can send your art by snail mail or e-mail. However,
the size of e-mail attachments should be less than 8 MB (preferably
less than 5 MB). Please save your pictures big enough to print - if
in doubt, output your pictures at 150 or 300 dpi. The best format
are JPEGs, GIFs or TIFFs. If sending a drawing by mail, please make
your artwork NO LARGER THAN 8 1/2" by 11". Original art is preferred
over tracings. We can't return entries unless special provisions are
made well in advance. Sending photocopies of your original work is
fine! Please clearly label each piece of your artwork on the back
with your name, address and age. Unless you specifically state in
writing that you don't want us to, we may print your name, age,
city and state.
All entries become the exclusive property of VIZ Media, LLC.
Submissions may be printed, reproduced, distributed or modified
at our sole discretion in Shojo Beat, or any other media
or publication or web site, or posted at conventions (or all of
the above). No compensation will be paid for any such use of
the submissions.
2. Start/End
Dates: Contest begins at 12:01 AM ET on Sept. 20, 2005 and
all entries must be received no later than 11:59:00 PM ET
on Nov. 21, 2005.

Eligibility. Participation open only to legal
residents of the continental U.S., Alaska, and Hawaii age 13 and over as of
Sept. 20, 2005. Entrants under the age of 13 must include a letter from their
parent or guardian giving permission to print your art in the magazine.
Sponsors may in their sole discretion require proof of consent before
awarding prizes to entrants under the age of 18. Void in Puerto Rico and
where prohibited, taxed or restricted by law. Employees, officers &
directors of Sponsor, Copic and their parent companies, subsidiaries,
affiliates, partners, dealers, advertising and promotion agencies,
manufacturers or distributors of magazine materials and their immediate
families (parents, children, siblings, spouse) or members of the same
household (whether related or not) of such employees/officers/directors are
not eligible to enter.
4. Judging of Finalists.
Artwork finalists (5)
will be chosen based on creativity and originality by Shojo Beat editorial
and marketing staff.
5. Odds.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries
received. By entering the Survey, entrants agree to be
bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges, which
will be final and binding in all matters relating to the
Survey.
6. Prizes.
Five (5) Prizes each consisting of one Copic Prize Pack each. ARV is $56.40 each.

Conditions. All taxes are the sole responsibility of
the winners. Participation in Survey sand acceptance of
prize constitutes winners' permission to use their name,
address (city and state), likeness, biographical
information and any statements made by winners regarding
the Survey or Sponsor for advertising and promotional
purposes without notice or additional compensation, except
where prohibited by law. By participating, all entrants and
winners agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor, its
advertising and promotion agencies, and their respective
parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners,
representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees,
officers and directors, from any and all liability, for
loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense whatsoever
including without limitation, property damage, personal
injury and/or death which may occur in connection with,
preparation for, travel to, or participation in Survey, or
possession, acceptance and/or use or misuse of prize or
participation in any Survey-related activity and claims
based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of
privacy and merchandise delivery. Sponsor is not
responsible if the prize cannot be awarded due to delays or
interruptions due to Acts of God, Acts of War, natural
disasters, weather or terrorism. Entrants who do not comply
with these Official Rules, or attempt to interfere with
this promotion in any way shall be disqualified. Prizes are
non-transferable. No substitutions or cash redemptions. In
the case of unavailability of a prize, Sponsor reserves the
right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
There is no purchase or sales presentation required to
participate. Purchase does not increase odds of
winning.
8. Additional
Terms. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole
discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend this
Survey should (in its sole discretion) virus, bugs,
non-authorized human intervention or other causes beyond
its control corrupt or affect the administration, security,
fairness or proper conduct of the Survey. In such case,
Sponsor will select the winner from all eligible entries
received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action
taken by Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole
discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds, in its
sole discretion, to be tampering with the entry process or
the operation of the Survey or Web site. For details
regarding collection of information from users of the Web
site (including entrants), please consult the privacy
policy on the Web site. Additionally, Sponsor reserves the
right to prosecute any fraudulent activities to the full
extent of the law. Sponsor and Promoter disclaim any and
all warranties, express or implied, associated with any of
the prizes. Any warranty claims must be submitted directly
to the prize manufacturers.
